UK Modifications

As the Ford Mustang is not officially imported into the UK, a number of modifications have to be made to enable it to be driven legally.

Great care has been taken to ensure that all the modifications are robust and complement the styling of the vehicle. We only employ highly trained technicians with years of experience to work on the vehicles that we supply.

The text below and pictures of a demonstrator explain and illustrate the modifications that we make.

Front and side modifications

It is a requirement for UK vehicles to have sidelights. To adhere to this we have carefully inserted a small bulb into each front headlamp. This virtually invisible insertion is made with a rubber seal to prevent condensation, although the front headlamps are already ventilated.

We use Japanese style number plates front and rear which are UK legal and complement the style of the vehicle.

The only change to the side of the vehicle is the addition of indicator repeaters. These are subtly mounted beneath the GT/Mustang logo. The smoked orange lenses are bespoke and specially designed for the purpose.

Rear lights and interior switches

In the USA vehicles indicate using red lenses at the rear, however these are not legal in the UK. To resolve this and meet UK requirements Kent Car Imports fit a neat European rear lamp cluster that includes indicators and a reversing lamp.

The interior switch for the fog lamp and Thatcham alarm (when specified) is placed on the switchboard next to the main beam height adjuster to the left of the steering wheel.
